I read about the „YOUSAAR"- contest on Facebook while I was checking out the DAI site. I really liked the idea of taking part in it with my English class. So I told my teacher about it and she also liked it.
A few days later we introduced the contest to the class. We all agreed to do a presentation with sections where everyone can say how their life is influenced by the USA. We started to get together in little groups of three to four people and began to collect themes in categories such as Sport, Music, Movie, etc. After all groups had finished we put the results together in one big presentation. Miss Krehbiel organized, that a young, female exchange student, who works with DAI, visited us so we were able to present our work.
We afterwards gave her the flash drive with the project so she could hand it out to the DAI.

After a few weeks there was an invitation in my mailbox. I was really surprised but not really expecting to win something. So it was a huge surprise when my classmates, Miss Krehbiel and I heard at the prize-giving that we made the third Place. As much as we couldn't believe it, the rest of our class couldn't either.

It was a nice experience and it's a good chance for students to improve their Englisch skills with an extra of having the chance to win a prize.
